Glenda Cinquegrana Art Consulting is proud to present “Accumulation: a Mirror of Contemporary Society”. This OVR features the works of Arman, Giuseppe Chiari, Maurus M. Malikita, Mazaccio & Drowilal, and Andrea Tonellotto. Through their practices, these artists employ the theme of accumulation to analyze various aspects of our current society. By examining the excessive collection of objects, they shed light on pressing social issues and challenge viewers to reconsider their roles as accumulators.
Arman, renowned for exploring the consequences of mass production and the dominance of everyday objects, delves into the accumulation concept in his art. Accumulation consists of compositions of every day, scrap, or discarded objects. Arman compels us to confront the excessive waste generated by our consumerist lifestyle through his distinctive style based on the accumulation and destruction of things. His works are a powerful critique of our society’s throwaway culture, urging viewers to reconsider their relationship with material possessions.
Giuseppe Chiari was known for his innovative use of accumulation in his artistic practice, particularly in his collages. He explored the concept of accumulating various materials, objects, and images to create complex and layered compositions. Through the accumulation of disparate elements, Chiari aimed to challenge traditional notions of composition and explore the interplay between different textures, colors, and forms. At the heart of Chiari’s performance lies the transformative power of the performative praxis.
Maurus M.Malikita, through his artistic practice, uses the accumulation of human elements as a reflection of society. Drawing inspiration from the African context, he presents her viewers with a mirror that reveals the complexities and challenges of contemporary African society. Malikita’s art serves as a poignant commentary on issues such as overpopulation, and the struggle for individual and collective identity.
Mazaccio&Drowilal take a critical stance against the cult-like worship of mass media in our society. They confront the media’s pervasive influence and information manipulation through their art. By accumulating and recontextualizing media imagery and symbols, Mazaccio Drowilal exposes the underlying power dynamics and challenges the notion of blindly following media messages.
Andrea Tonellotto, by capturing various landscapes, Tonellotto creates a visual representation of the passing of time and the evolving nature of contemporary places. Through this process, he delves into the complexities and changes within society, reflecting the accumulation of experiences, memories, and influences that shape our modern world. Tonellotto’s artistic approach challenges viewers to question the rapidly shifting landscapes of our time and contemplate the essence of accumulation in the context of our ever-changing society.
